By Rajeev Sharma From Chaudhary Devi Lal University Sirsa.

Answer:

Dear Rajeev If you are a fresher then having knowledge of Ruby & Rails is not at all necessary and going to help you to find a better job rather having command over core java , pl/sql queries  with some online certifications  like SCJP (Sun Certified Java Professional) will certainly help you get a nice job In India and abroad.

Some people mostly technical institutes misguide students for doing latest courses and leaving courses like Java/ .Net etc, but to be very frank all these course are still having demand even C and C++ are in demand, every thing is worth doing provided you have interest in it, like a person who has just the command over one old language C is highly demanded in anti virus making companies or in companies who are in hard ware level programming.

See, once a software has been made using C/C++ or java then it does not mean company will not need any new developers , because here comes the implementation of software, companies like TCS, Wipro and Infosys hire fresh engineering graduates to support their premade software at various Banks and Clients who use their software. So its better to decide interest and just go deep into it have command over it.

But if you are already working somewhere and then planning to any advance course then you can go ahead and learn Ruby & Rails , yes it is and advance technology which can give you extra wattage in your company for any kind of promotions because it support faster software development and hence saves time.
